Miami Beach PD partners with Skydio and Axon for a safer community
Miami Beach Police Department served as host agency at the Axon Accelerate 2024 conference in Miami Beach, FL. In partnership with Skydio and Axon, MBPD sees success in everyday patrol operations with the use of drones to expedite response times and reduce risk to officers and their community. - Right now we are at, uh, the Miami Beach Convention Center where
- Axon has their
- 2024 Axon Week hosted by the Miami Beach Police Department.

- For us to have Axon choose Miami Beach has been amazing.
- From drones to vehicles, it's really been an
- all-encompassing tech fest, if you will, for public safety
- agencies from all over the world.
- The partnership between Axon
- and other technology groups like Skydio, the
- ability for them to listen to what our needs are and bring
- those two disparate systems together with the end goal
- of making the agency successful has been absolutely
- amazing for us. [upbeat music]
- The city of Miami Beach is actually a, a man-made island.
- We're only seven square miles. Our widest point is only about
- three-quarters of a
- mile.
- Uh, we deal with the challenges of 48 special
- event weekends a year,
- where we can swell from our 93,000 to several
- hundred thousand over a weekend. Having our drones out there,
- being able to act as a force multiplier for our
- officers to augment what we're already doing at the patrol
- level and to increase and provide better
- actionable intelligence for our officers, and it's a, it's a phenomenal tool
- for us. [upbeat music]
- When Miami Beach Police Department w- was looking for, uh, partners
- in any type of technology solution,
- the responsiveness of any vendor is super
- critical for us. And with Skydio, I know I can pick up a phone, and I
- can reach out to my customer success manager.
- I can reach out to one of our systems engineers and ask a question on the fly,
- "Hey, I'm running into this issue," or, "I've got that problem."
- And I'm not calling an 800 number. We're Miami Beach.
- We have very high demands, and so far, Skydio's, they've hit their mark.
