Skydio Scout protects military troops and police on the move
Skydio drones autonomously conduct advanced route scanning, help identify threats and minimize risk for convoys and boots on the ground.
- [suspenseful music] [radio chatter]
- This army convoy is departing to set up a checkpoint along a distant
- supply route. [truck rumbling] They are
- equipped with Skydio X2 drones featuring a new autonomous
- skill, [drone buzzing] Skydio Scout.
- [radio chatter] Prior to
- moving out, the pilots deploy the X2s at the front
- and rear of the convoy.
- They then initiate the Scout skill.
- [drone buzzing] Scout enables the
- X2 to track the GPS location of either the Skydio Enterprise
- controller
- or the Skydio Beacon.
- While tracking, Skydio X2 maintains altitude, as
- well as distance and direction relative to the location
- of the controller,
- without requiring any additional input from the pilot.
- During all of this, Skydio X2 autonomously avoids
- obstacles, allowing the pilot to easily focus on
- monitoring the video feed.
- Even when direct line of sight is obscured, Scout allows X2 to
- keep GPS lock on the controller. If needed, the pilot
- has full control of the X2.
- [drone beeping] They can fly the drone to a new
- location relative to the convoy,
- [drone beeping] or they can move only the camera
- to scan an area
- while the drone autonomously maintains its position.
- As the convoy enters rolling terrain, the pilots
- reposition their drones to a higher altitude ahead of their
- vehicles, giving a clear picture of any threats or
- obstacles on the route ahead.
- Throughout the mission, data from the X2s can now be seamlessly
- shared using Skydio's new TAC integration.
- [tense music] With a Skydio X2
- tracking above, the Skydio Enterprise controller feeds
- video and telemetry data through the operator software-defined
- radio to a TAC server. [radio chatter] This TAC integration
- allows
- both Skydio drones to be part of the common operating
- picture by sharing real time location and video with the
- convoy commander and anyone else on the network.
- Sorry, there's two vehicles up ahead. I'm sending the drone in to check it out.
- Roger that.
- Scout plus TAC integration gives teams the combination of advanced
- route scanning and real time sharing of information.
- There's a secondary route available.
- [screen beeping]
- Alternate route options?
- [truck rumbling]
- There's a fork 200 yards up ahead.
- Got it. Take the fork to the left.
- This combination enables the convoy to quickly reroute without
- stopping, [drone buzzing] minimizing the exposure to
- potential threats along
- the way.
- As night falls, the convoy approaches their objective.
- GPS night flight and thermal video streaming mean that Scout and TAC
- integration both function during nighttime
- operations.
- Regulator Main, this is Regulator 1. Approaching target checkpoint.
- We are about two clicks out. Over.
- [screen beeping]
- Sarg, we have disabled vehicles up ahead.
- Roger that. Marking in ATAC.
- [truck rumbling]
- Regulator 1, this is Regulator Main. [keyboard clacking] We're seeing this.
- Are you able to determine if there's a threat?
- [screen beeping]
- Looking at it in thermal. It looks like two civilians jumping a car.
- Acknowledged. Keep eyes on it. We'll roll past.
- Once again, Skydio Scout and TAC integration allow the
- convoy to be decisive and keep moving.
- The mission proceeds and the checkpoint is secured.
- [tense music] The autonomous GPS tracking of Skydio Scout,
- combined with the ability to share video and telemetry data
- across the TAC network, means Skydio offers a solution for
- immediate situational awareness that keeps operators,
- commanders, and network connected team members
- informed throughout the
- mission.
- [drone beeping]
