Skydio 2 Autonomous Drone Manufacturing

Skydio drones are flying supercomputers — highly sophisticated devices that leverage computer vision and AI to understand the environment and fly themselves while avoiding obstacles. We believe there is no better place to build the world’s drones with the world’s most advanced AI than the nation that leads the world in AI — the United States. Our talented employees provide the expertise necessary to build products with the level of reliability and quality that our customers expect.

Designing, assembling, and supporting products in the US comes with challenges, but it also provides a strong competitive advantage when it comes to speed of innovation, product quality and security. We are excited to see that our hard work is paying off:

  • We ship more drones than any other US drone manufacturer
  • World Class NPS coming in at 63
  • Our enterprise and defense product, the Skydio X2, was selected as a trusted drone platform for federal, state, and local agencies by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Blue sUAS program. Skydio X2 complies with the high levels of supply chain and cybersecurity that Congress required military drones to meet in last year’s National Defense Authorization Act.
Skydio Drone Manufacturing in the United States

As with our engineering and go-to-market teams, we are building a world-class manufacturing and supply chain talent and prowess that draws from the expertise of seasoned experts. Olek Lorenc, Head of manufacturing has been with Skydio since 2017 after spending multiple years at Rockwell Automation, where he brought next generation industrial sensors and safety products to mass production in factories across North America and Europe.

Shea Anderson joined Skydio in April of 2020 and is leading our Supply Chain organization with a focus on bringing best in class procedures and scaling a team to support Skydio’s growing manufacturing footprint. Prior to Skydio Shea had an extensive career in Supply Chain focused heavily in strategic sourcing as well as scaling new products in the electric vehicle space. Shea spent 4 years in Global Procurement at US Steel, 3+ years at Tesla scaling the Model 3 supply chain, and most recently was supporting Lyft to scale the Micromobility business unit.

“Skydio is developing a world class manufacturing base. Our growing team has established a secure and sustainable supply chain capable of supporting the growing demand for the world’s most advanced autonomous drones,” Shea Anderson, Head of Supply Chain.

“Ultimately, our team’s highest priority is quality. We have implemented rigorous processes to test all of our products thoroughly. We perform incoming inspection of critical-to-quality features, in-process quality checks, over three hundred automated tests, and rigorous outgoing quality control including cosmetic inspections.” Olek Lorenc, Head of Manufacturing.

Robust domestic manufacturing capabilities will not only support the economy by creating more jobs, but also better respond to the needs of our nation’s warfighters, first responders, enterprises, and consumers.

We’re proving every day that US companies can not only compete, but can win, by designing and manufacturing innovative software-defined hardware domestically powered by industry leading AI and autonomy.
