About the role:
We’re looking for a sharp, strategic storyteller to help shape the voice of Skydio—the world leader in autonomous flight. As our Senior Copywriter, you’ll write the words that move our brand forward. From headline-driven campaigns to detailed product messaging, you’ll help us turn complex drone technology into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with customers, partners, and prospects alike.
You’ll be part of a nimble, talented creative team—collaborating with designers, video directors, and marketers to bring the Skydio brand to life across:
- Web + interactive
- Brand and product launches
- Social + campaign creative
- Events, merchandise, and packaging
Time commitment & work location: 40 hrs/week, 2-3 days/week onsite at our San Mateo HQ.
Duration: This is a 3-month contract to start, with the potential to convert to a full-time salaried position if it proves to be a strong long-term fit for both sides.
How you'll make an impact:
- Lead copy across marketing channels—web, email, ads, product launches, events
- Define and evolve Skydio’s voice across platforms and touchpoints
- Work closely with Product, GTM, and Creative to bring ideas to life
- Create everything from taglines and headlines to long-form storytelling
What makes you a good fit:
You are an excellent storyteller with the ability to craft clear, compelling copy that puts audience needs at the center and explains complex ideas and technology in ways that are accessible to everyone. You bring a portfolio that showcases versatility across formats, audiences, and industries.
- 6+ years of copywriting, ideally across brand and creative marketing work—either in-house or in agencies
- A portfolio showcasing breadth—brand campaigns, product messaging, video, web, and UX copy
- Strong conceptual thinking and a strategic mindset—able to link copy to business goals
- Experience working in fast-paced, matrixed environments, collaborating with Product, Design, Engineering, and Marketing teams
- Excellent editing, grammar, and consistency skills; familiarity with tone/style guides and design systems
- Strong communicator who can present ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders
Compensation Range: The hourly rate for this contract position is $80–$90/hr.*
*Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as skill level, relevant experience, and domain expertise. Please note that this is a contract role and is not eligible for Skydio’s employee benefits, equity, or internal incentive programs.
