Knoxville PD conducts test flights in preparation for its DFR program launch

Knoxville Police Department has installed seven of the program's twelve planned drone docks across the city and completed test flights as it prepares to launch its Drone as First Responder (DFR) program. Once live, KPD will remotely deploy drones from its Real Time Information Center in response to emergency calls, severe weather, large-scale emergencies, and special events, giving officers real-time information as situations evolve in the field. KPD will also launch a public transparency dashboard with detailed flight logs, giving the community visibility into the program.
