FAQs about Skydio Extend
Skydio Extend streamlines how drone-captured data lands in the systems you use—automating workflows, enabling faster insights, and powering scalable operations. This FAQ explains what integrations are available, how they work, and where to go for developer customization.
Getting started
What is Skydio Extend?
Skydio Extend is our integration platform that connects Skydio drones and software with the tools and systems you already use. It helps organizations maximize the value of their drone data and streamline workflows across public safety, utilities, construction, defense, and more.

How do Skydio Extend integrations work?
Most integrations fall into one of two categories:
- Skydio-built integrations: We’ve built and tested integrations for our most commonly used systems, such as Axon Evidence, Axon Fusus, and Single Sign-On providers. Administrators can enable these integrations in just a few clicks.
- Partner integrations: Developed and maintained by third-party partners, these integrations connect Skydio with specialized platforms for asset management, photogrammetry, GIS, and more.
Do I need to be a developer to use these integrations?
Most integrations are turnkey—just configure your settings once, either in Skydio or in the partner solution, and they run automatically. If you are a developer, we have a secure, public API -- which can be developed against using our documentation.
How do I get started with an integration?
Visit the Skydio Extend page to explore use cases and see how Extend can support your workflows. If you're ready to start building or connecting, reach out to our sales or support teams—we’ll help you set up the right solution for your organization.
Customization and developer options
What if I need an integration that’s not listed in the catalog?
Skydio Extend includes a robust library of APIs that make it easy for technical teams to build custom integrations. Visit the APIs, and developer tools page for details.
Can customers build their own integrations?
Yes. In addition to pre-built options, Skydio provides developer tools (APIs, documentation, and a sandbox environment) so that customers and partners can create custom integrations.
Can I integrate third-party payloads or hardware systems using Skydio Extend ICDs?
Yes. Skydio provides detailed Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and developer tools that allow integrators to add custom or third-party hardware, sensors, or communication modules to compatible platforms like Skydio X10 and X10D.
To explore supported integration methods, data formats, and interface protocols, visit the APIs, ICDs, and developer tools page.
What integrations are available for X10D?
The X10D supports integrations through Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to interface with third-party controllers and communicate via the MAVLink//RAS-A protocol or Android applications API to receive information while running on the X10D Controller. Visit the the APIs, ICDs, and developer tools page.
Security & Licensing
How does Skydio secure data with integrations?
Skydio’s APIs are protected with secure, token-based authentication to ensure only authorized integrations can access your data. Each token is limited in scope, so access is restricted to only what’s needed. This approach provides strong protection while keeping integrations simple and controlled.
What integrations are included with the Skydio DFR Command or Remote Ops subscription?
Skydio DFR Command or Remote Ops includes access to all Skydio-built and partner integrations. Please note that some partner products may require additional license fees or the use of third-party integrators.
